[livejournal.com profile] beowabbit and I attended opening night of The Big Broadcast of 1954 on Wednesday, and really enjoyed it a lot. [livejournal.com profile] derspatchel and Company have done it again. We knew almost everyone onstage and have worked with most of them on past shows. It was a little strange to be in the audience and not onstage or doing a house role! Scheduling just didn't work for either of us this year, but we'll see what next year brings.

Everyone was fantastic in their roles, which we knew to expect. But I have to shine a special spotlight on one out-of-the-ballpark performance: Who knew [livejournal.com profile] usernamenumber had a singing voice like a Broadway star? Is there any end to his talents?

The only thing that equally dazzled me was the elegant farthingale dress worn by an actress in the Sleepy Hollow portion. Where did that come from?

If you're local, it's worth the trip to Arlington. There's good food in the neighborhood (the Chinese restaurant across the street from the theater has HUGE portions). BTW, get some Byfar Coffee Syrup from the concession stand. It is so damn yummy in milk, especially with the addition of malt powder. Oh, and after the show it was hinted at that I might get to dust off my favorite recurring character for an upcoming project. :-)
