Jul. 3rd, 2004 10:11 amWe had an ace Glass rehearsal last night. It’s astonishing to look back on the first time I read the insane fugue script and the seeming impossibility of it as a staged piece. I was on the play selection committee for the festival, and we strongly considered cutting Philip Glass from the roster and replacing it with something easier. Now I’m so glad we didn’t. Just ask
scholargipsy how easily those catchy “TimeTimeTimeTimes” and “GoGoGoGos” stick in your head.
I stayed up to the very wee hours talking and talking with the Gipsy, to the background electro-incantations of Einstein On The Beach. The conversation turned to ghostly tales of the paranormal and horror literature/film, and we gave each other a terrible case of the heebie-jeebies. After we said good night, I was jumping at every creak in the floor and became convinced that something was stirring on the basement stairs....
Now it’s morning and, with visions of Regan McNeil banished by the sunlight, there's a busy day ahead. I’ll be going to a dinner party tonight where I only know one person, and there will be many new people to meet. I may also stop at the T@F work session this afternoon to help with whatever’s being constructed if I make enough headway with the Glass dresses first.

Date: 2004-07-03 07:38 am (UTC)Yeah, I was a little spooked walking home (especially when a very late-night jogger caromed around the corner at Powderhouse toward me out of nowhere -- I jumped so much he called out "Sorry!"). Fortunately I called my sweetie to leave a message and her phone was actually on, so we got to talk; I felt much more soothed afterward and actually slept like a lamb.
