Yesterday I had new headshots taken by my awesome photographer friend Jamin Leopold. He’s hella good, and he took so many shots I loved that I’m having a hard time making a final choice of just one for the prints. I’ve narrowed it down to these four, which are still unretouched – he’ll do cosmetique on my humid-i-frizz hair on the final. Which pose(s) do you like best? (non-LJ readers please chime in too – you can leave comments without having an LJ account).

By the way to actor/musician/media friends who need a headshot, Jamin comes with my highest recommendations and he’s booking appointments now. Get 'em before he heads off for his move. It’s the best rate you’ll ever get in Boston, and as you can see, he’s really good.

Now my only problem: which to choose?

They're all great, but I vote for #4.

oh, i don't even usually troll livejournal like this. only when work is boring me, which doesn't happen all that frequently, but happens to coincide with this production. this is a good thing, as it means that i can get away with working 8h days.

but yes, i don't get a livejournal because i'd never write in it, and i'd have to pay for it, and i get all the benefits for free. :)

Understood -- although the basic LJ account is free, and makes it easier to keep a friends list to read. That's what suckered me in originally, when I thought I'd never post.

Oh wow! Tough call, yes...

I actually like #1 least well; I think I'd pick #3. #2 is Absolutely the Cutest, but also (and probably for that reason!) maybe not as universal. And conversely, #4 looks wonderfully artful and "headshot-ish", but also (and probably for that reason!) somehow more generic; I think #3 shows more personality. Yeah, that's my vote.

Definitely #1. Classic pose, best natural expression, shows off your gorgeous eyes... busy-ness in the background can be too distracting for a headshot, I think.

Strongly vote #1 for a headshot, but if I were to rank them all (for this purpose) it would be 1, 4, 3, 2. (2 is totally cute, but as a headshot, I second what others have said.) Must remember to compliment Jamin on these, though the model certainly made his job easier. Very nice pictures, both of you.

Mare,

I go with #1 or #4. Definitely!

Though they all rock--Benjamin's an awesome photographer, and you're very photogenic...

See you soon!!

1, 3, 4, then 2

Though the umbrella is very nice, 1 is simple and very charming. 4 though has that Mare smile we all know and love, though. All in all a nice set of portraiture!

#1 - I like this one best for a head shot. Your face is very open and fills up the shot more than the others.

#2 - You look impish--a little too much "one mood" for a headshot, I think--and while it's a great smile, I don't like what it's doing to the shape of your face. I also find your nose more prominent in this one. The parasol is nifty, but distracting from you.

#3 - I find your hair (which I love) to be overwhelming your face (much more important to a director) in this one.

#4 - This one would be my second choice. It's a great photo, but the posture again distracts from your face and there's a little too much nostril.

I'm being incredibly picky and critical here, because I think that's what you want. They are all great photos of a beautiful, vibrant woman.
