My family appears to have left for their Florida vacation and forgotten to give me their contact info. They're staying with my aunt, whose address/phone I don't know, Somewhere In Florida. None of them have internet or cell phones (I last saw the cell phone I bought for Emily at the bottom of a box of seldom-used toys :-/ ).

Well, I left a message on their answering machine, and hopefully they'll check it at some point and get back to me. Unusual, though.

I'll be in Maine this weekend with [livejournal.com profile] beowabbit. Cellular telophony is second only to Internet on my "how could I possibly have survived without it" list.

Depending on where you go in Maine, you may not have coverage. You might want to check that if it's important to you.

Have a blast. (I love Maine)

Ah, true enough. Apparently we'll be very rural. Well, whither goeth [livejournal.com profile] beowabbit, so goeth the Interwebs and a bevy of other communications and tech devices (my cyborgy boyfriend), so chances are there will be some form of communication with the outside world available. We're going to a sauna B&B. Yay, warmth!

I know where they're going. Unless they've installed a cell tower nearby recently, ain't no cell coverage in that place. Have fun, kids!

Rut roh.

Well, the B&B does have a land line (I was there when Jay called), so maybe I could get that from him and give it to those who might need to contact me, like my roomie...

It's a problem. My immediate family, as well as most of my extended family, are nearly Amish in their low-tech-ness. I'm no tech goddess myself ([livejournal.com profile] beowabbit and [livejournal.com profile] vanguardcdk often have to do challenging things for me like turn on the DVD player), but my family has little interest in most basic conveniences that I consider necessities. My brother does have dial-up internet and a hotmail account, but he doesn't check it regularly and probably won't check it from Florida. Oh well.

Wasn't Emily like all super-excited when she first got the cell-phone? Aww..sorry to see it lasted as long as a sugar high. ;)

I'm told that she was so happy when she opened the package that she burst into tears of joy, and that she took it to bed with her for several nights. It came with $10 worth of minutes, and when that ran out, she didn't ask anyone to buy her more. I guess she got bored carrying around as a fashion accessory and abandoned it.

Now she wants me to buy her an iPod.

M'kay.
