Scene From A Somerville Laundromat

There was a loose semi-circle of geeky-type young men around the high wall-mount TV in the landromat when I went in to switch my laundry from washer to dryer. Gladiator was on; one of the Colosseum battle scenes. Ignoring their laundry, they watched and watched, slack-jaw riveted, adjusting their fashionable rectangular glasses and moving closer to the small screen, if they could do so without notice. The Portuguese families doing Sunday night clothes wash went right on about their business. They could have knocked a rapt geek over with the flick of a Bounce fabric sheet, if they'd wanted.
I couldn't help but join in in the watching for a while. Both movie and laundromat.
Neighborhood love.
