Send Me Dead Flowers
Jun. 27th, 2007 06:40 pmThis blistering heat killed some of my wildflower seedlings. When I came home after work, some of my tallest ones were dead. They're too young to ID all the species yet, but the ones I'd temporarily nicknamed Starfaces took the heat worst. Many of those I found slumped over dead upon their shorter neighbors. Other varieties are turning yellow.
This whouldn't have happened if I'd planted a month earlier, but I didn't even think of the idea until the beginning of June.
beowabbit, make sure to water yours very well tonight or tomorrow morning, or both. Well, the literature did say that baby seedlings can't take a certain extreme of heat, and we're well above that.
Sometimes gardening in Boston feels like a lost cause. Our weather is SO erratic, and nothing is predictable or dependable. Outdoor wedding? Don't even think about it. White Christmas? Not likely, but be sure to have the snow shovel still around at Easter because you may need it.
Feh. Well, to rehearsal now...
