[livejournal.com profile] pheromone posted a link to this elsewhere, but I looked at the site a 2nd time saw that they're coming to Boston!

www.flexpetz.com

This is so perfect for people like me, who love doggity dogs but don't have the kind of lifestyle or facilities that support full-time dog ownership. The subject came up because someone said they wished there were Zipdogs, and it turns out there really *will* be dog-share soon in Boston. I've already pre-registered! I can't wait to take cuddly pooches for romps in a park!

If you're not local, you can check and see if there's a planned location in your city. And if there isn't, you can request one. This makes me so very happy!

Woof!

OMG! That's awesome! We still probably couldn't do this because of the cat and the crowded nature of our home, but maybe one day...*sigh*.

I just plan to take the dogs on one-day outings away from my house. I probably wouldn't bring them to the house because it would freak out the kitties. But I'm looking forward to walkies in the park!

This is wacky. I am so forwarding the link to my friend. Perhaps she could parlay it into a new job, which she desperately needs.

Yeah, I'm sure they'll have plenty of staffing needs. It's not like you can just park a dog like a Zipcar. :-)

Wow. I wonder about the dogs' emotional needs, having no steady owner and all. And it seems like they want an arm and a leg -- a monthly fee AND a reservation fee AND a membership fee AND a training fee. Still, it's pretty darned cool.

My husband and I are planning/hoping to get a dog of our own. If we do, we'll let you play with her. *smile*

I'm thinking part of the intent of these fees is to weed out people who might be abusive to the sweet pups. Not that there shouldn't be a better way...

Yeah, it's expensive, but the money goes to pay the dogs' vet bills (they have a vet visit every 3 months) and to pay the staff's salaries. It's worth it to me, to get to play with dogs and to know they're really well cared for.

Apparently the dogs are delighted to have so many people love them. I'd love to play with your new pup when you get her, though!

Oh, I don't think it will. Lots of people own their own dogs, and that won't change. BTW, in the [livejournal.com profile] davis_square community someone was asking for a dog sitter and I mentioned you. Did you see it?
