My sweetie and I are going to a Sheep Shearing Festival in Waltham on Saturday. I'm so excited for the outdoor time, and for the Border Collies. I'm so glad that festival season is here! Hope we make it to lots of them. :-)

Does anyone know if there are ever carnivals in the Boston/suburban area? Since moving here I haven't heard of any, and I miss the traveling carnivals that used to show up regularly back in upstate New York. Are there ever any around here?

There was a carnival last summer in the mall parking lot in Wellington Circle in Medford, near the Outback Steakhouse. They had old-fashioned rides and games and cotton candy!

There won't be any in Somerville - I found an article in the Somerville News from 2005 with a carnival business man complaining because the major of Somerville won't let there be any carnivals in the city. The major said it's a public safety issue.

There's a carnival in Medford every year.

Have fun at the sheep shearing! I'd go to that if I weren't already signed up to take a NELA workshop on CBT. :-)

It's a big weekend! I used to be very into folk music. Maybe next year I'll check that one out. :-)

There's a few more festivals in the near future. There's a North Andover Sheepshearing festival in May, as well as the NH Sheep and Wool Festival (normally around mother's day weekend) and the MA Sheep and wool festival 2 weeks before/after NH. Let me know if you want to go, perhaps we can go together (fiber spinning being one of my hobbies).
