A Badly Timed Crisis
Aug. 11th, 2008 10:45 amRowley is very ill, possibly at the end of his life, but I won't know anything until I can get home to check on him and decide if we need to go to Angell Memorial Hospital.
Fate, and the presenteeism expected of me at my job, conspired to punch me hard in the face yesterday and today. Yesterday was not only supposed to be my sweetieversary date with Jay, but also the night that his parents came into town from Illinois for a rare visit, whom I was supposed to be meeting for the first time. Neither thing happened. Rowley was so weak that there was no way I could leave him, and the thunder and lightning were terrifying him, so being a trembling ball of stress myself, I called Jay and asked with a heavy heart if we could postpone our date. He is the most understanding person in the world and I adore him for shouldering this disappointment so graciously.
I would be home right now and taking Rowley to a normal local vet (who don't keep evening hours) if it weren't for the absolute requirement that I be at work today and tomorrow. As it is, I have to be here until 5:00PM, then am rushing home and meeting Jay there to decide if Rowley needs to go in to Angell.
Please send good thoughts to Rowley. And I could use a few myself.
