Yum...another delicious potluck at Lou's with the New Neighborhood gang. I've really grown to love that almost-weekly ritual. I mixed up some of the leftover spaghetti from the party Saturday to bring, and made garlic bread out of a loaf we hadn't used. So really, very little of the leftovers were wasted, and roomie Chris and I have been nibbling at the pies and sweets. It occurred to me too late to bring one of the unopened wine bottles, but I can save them for the next potluck.

My head is full, full, FULL to vomiting with these lines for the play. I've been working with the CD all day today, determined to be ready for tonight's stumble-through. Two years ago when I played Emilia in Othello I thought it was the most difficult text I would ever have to memorize. That was cake compared to this. I haven't counted the actual lines and am not going to. It would be too overwhelming to know the actual number.

Have you ever noticed that when you have some huge task in front of you like a terrifying mountain face, all the cruddy little tasks that you ordinarily hate suddenly become appealing and preferable to The Big One? Today I actually wanted to do dishes, haul out the garbage, purge my closet, laa laa laa, anything but the daunting giant challenge. Oy.

You are so right about the One Big Task effect. It's downright creepy.

If I can learn Eleanor, anyone can learn pretty much anything. :-} I never thought of counting the lines, although, too, some of her speeches were whole paragraphs.

You did an amazing job with that role, and it was enormous. It's an inspiration!
