The Train

Hopefully this time tomorrow I'll be on an Amtrak heading west to a snowy Rochester, NY. I'm just not going to stress about weather effecting rail travel. If I don't get there (or get there very late), my family will just have to deal, and I certainly wouldn't mind spending Christmas with my honeywuzzle here in Boston. But really I don't think this amount of snow will stop the Lakeshore Limited. I'm just so happy that I will be having nothing to do with airports this holiday season! Rolling my suitcase through the snow to the T will put the uck in suck, but it won't be the first time I've done it.

I worked from home today for the first time in this job. I thought there would be very little work, but I was actually rather busy. In 18 minutes, I'm on vacation! And I still have plenty of time for packing.

I will have internet access (and thank goodness -- I don't think I could bear to go if I didn't), but I may not be able to keep up on my f'list, so for anything important, just shoot me an e-mail or text!

Honeywuzzle? I like that word! Did you invent it?

Yes. It's a private pet name we use only for one another. I do post it here sometimes because he likes seeing it in type, not putting it up for grabs or anything.

Have a safe travel, [livejournal.com profile] plumtreeblossom. You are fortunate to be taking the train.

I expect there to be no problems. Trains plow through this stuff with ease, and I expect them to have things cleared up by tomorrow. I remember taking the Acela from NYC to Boston in a blizzard back around 2001 to come visit [livejournal.com profile] joyeous, and the train went through 6" of snow like it wasn't even there.

Have a safe trip and a happy Christmas, plumtreeblossom. The train is definitely the way to go. No fog delays, no airport waiting, and (for me) no terror of the skies. Enjoy!
Also, you meet really nice people on the train!

May it be a very voyage bon. On Amtrak,
I think you should have few problems.
Wanted to pass on a S. Vowell story you
might or might not have seen.
More anon, Don
