Apr. 12th, 2004 11:33 amI'm on the 22nd floor of the Federal Reserve Building in Boston, temping. My ears pop each time I ride the elevator. It's a high security building. At the entrance are bag scanning machines, just like at the airport. After signing in and presenting photo ID and a plastic security badge, all bags, coats, purses, and briefcases go through the scanner. Then we walk through the metal detector.
This morning there was a line of at least 100 people snaking out the door. I had no choice but to wait the 30 minutes it took to get in, even though the wind was freezing. Inside they were wand-scanning each person as they entered, only letting one in at a time. After being wanded, ID'd, bag scanned, and metal detected, everyone was given a sticker that has to be worn until leaving the building at the end of the day. Mine says 01000719 0412-04. It is yellow.
Yesterday I discovered that I can leg press 200 lbs.
