My first academic paper for Cambridge College, and first academic paper written in 26 years, got an A.

I'm so glad. I so needed something, anything, to be proud of right now. It's a tender mercy to have put great effort into something and for it to have had real, tangible results.

Wonderful! Now you have officially joined the ranks of the tradional "non-traditional" students - the ones who get A's!

Woohoo!! I went through a similar experience a few years ago. In 2007 I returned to school to finish my degree, with my self-esteem at an all-time low, and was pleasantly surprised to discover that age has not yet diminished my talents, and that I'm still capable of impressing my teachers. Not being a writer myself, I cannot find the words to express how profoundly important that experience was to me. Still, I wanted to let you know that I empathize, and that it gives me great joy to hear that your self-esteem has been refreshed. Go you! :)

Congratulations! Nothing wrong with feeling good and being proud about something, especially something related to going back to school. I remain amazed by the bravery that must have taken and very impressed by you for doing it (and continuing to do it.)
