My cubicle is nekkid. I'd like to get a plant or two to brighten things up. However, I'm not near a window and so the cube gets almost no direct sunlight.

Does anyone know of a species of plant (other than silk) that can thrive without any real direct sunlight?

i have a purple passion which is doing great in my windowless office. v. surprising given that the internet told me it was a direct light plant.

I've killed a cactus before . . . *twice* actually . . . both times by accident . . . once while me and the cactus were both living in MEXICO . . .

I am bad with plants. :(

Spider plants seem to do pretty well without it--I've got one living on top of the fridge that's fairly happy out of the light.

free plants for you!

I have a [mumblemumblewhatthefuckdoIknowaboutplants] that I had to move out of the window because the direct sun was killing it. You've been in our house: it's on top of the bookcase in the Dining Room, so across the room from a North facing window that's 13' from the next house (ie. not so much in the sun department). The plant is doing FabU, and I'll happily root a little bit of it and send it your way. It will take a few weeks for the roots to catch enough to pot it, but I have lots of pots, so maybe I'll get it to you as an epiphany gift or something.

Oh and spider plants. Lordylordy do I have spider plants! I keep mine in the window, but if E.'s right that they're happy away from it, I have some of them already rooting in water and ready to be potted.

Happy un-birthday.

Thanks y'all! There's a kiosk right near my work that sells spider plants. Sounds like its worth a try. :-)
