Mar. 3rd, 2011 01:19 pmYuck. Two failed sandwiches in one lunch.
I went to the MIT food trucks and ordered chicken shwarma, which I've had elsewhere but not there. I was expecting the spicy meatloaf that lamb shwarma is, only made of chicken. Wrong. It was gnarls of rubbery, discolored chicken with no seasoning that I could taste, rolled up in pita with wilted salad. I ate about 1/3, but it was too gross to finish so I threw it away.
Went to the Kendall convenience store, which makes sandwiches. Ordered a gyro, which took 10 minutes. When I got back to the office to eat it, I discovered it was a thick roll of pure lettuce with a few wispy-thin slices of gyro meat, slathered in face cream (or something very like it). Ate half, chucked the other half. I hate wasting food, but ugh.
Was still hungry, so I ate a single serving packet of dry Cheerios from my desk drawer. Not an om nom nom solution. When the best part of your lunch was the Pepsi, there's a problem. We're going out to dinner tonight. I hope it's better.
