Cool and Dry
May. 31st, 2011 01:51 pmToday's weather is PERFECT. What a difference a drop in humidity makes. And of course, I'm at work. But maybe I'll get off the T at Harvard Square and walk home from there.
Is there anywhere in the United States where it isn't humid and the temps never go above 75F? Not that I want to move away from here my life and my love are here!), but it would be nice to know there was a place to escape the heat for a weekend here and there. Alaska, maybe?
Actually, it wouldn't have to be in the United States. Could be a lot of places.

What's truly awesome about that part of the world is its microclimates. At Big Sur, down highway 1 from Monterey, there are creeks that are fed by coastal fog in the hills and form little valleys as they run too the sea. Hike up one of those valleys and you're in dense rain forest with great big redwood trees. Then you'll come to a place where the forest ends, and suddenly you're in a desert. Turn around, and you see the green valley stretching out before you toward the distant blue ocean. It's a truly magical place.
