Juicy Water

I've taken to mixing fruit juice half-&-half with ice water. I just like the taste better at that strength. And it's more refreshing. Straight fruit juice never made me go AHHHHHH after a big glug, but this does. Plus, it halves the calories, and doubles the amount of beverage. Win. :-) I recommend giving it a taste.

:D This is how I mix Amelie's juices (she gets 2 during the day as a "treat")!

*old lady voice* Back in my day, I drank straight Pepsi from a glass formula bottle, and I LIKED it!

(Fer realz. The 1960s were every bit as F-ed up as Madmen makes them look!)

Pfft. That ain't so special, woman! :D LOL! *Back in my day (the 70s/80s), getting Ginger Ale once a month was a huge treat!* And to my knowledge, Amelie has still never had soda. We have her convinced that it's a "Daddy" drink and bad for her.

But really, there are babies and toddlers in my neighborhood whose parents still do this (soda in the bottle) - and see nothing wrong with it. It's kinda sad really.

It's even better with seltzer!

I love that, too. :-) A favorite is seltzer with cranberry and orange juice. Yum!

Another vote for seltzer and juice. I even order it at bars when I'm the designated driver.

I've also noticed that bottled fruit juice / fruit cocktail is just Too Sweet for me, so I also do the mixing, sometimes doing 1/3 juice to 2/3 water. Heck, sometimes I even just want flavored water, and put in even less juice. Make sure you have a good quality water, using a filter to ensure the water is even tastier.

Yep, we have a water bubbler at work. It tastes really good.

I'm with you on that. I ought to bring some juice to work with me and maybe I'll drink enough to keep up with my minimum needs.

I wonder if you might end up enjoying it even more at 100% water. :D

Nooooo! :-p

I would like to own a juicer, actually. Super fresh juice would be even tastier in the mix.

Whoops, replied to a comment when I mean to reply to the entry! Let me try that again...

See, there appear to be different beverage consumption philosophies at work here. For me, there are times where I want fruit juice, straight up, but this is less often. Most of the time I just want water, with no hint of anything in it but water (maybe a twist of lemon now and again, but mostly what I drink all day everyday is water). Where I do go in for the mix is with fizzy water - soda water with 1/4-1/2 cranberry juice, that I actually enjoy.

Ooo, that sounds like a good idea. I've been mixing lemonade and seltzer half-and-half for years, to cut back on the acidity, but never thought of trying it with sweeter juices and plain water.

I suspect this is what Tropicana's "Trop50" product is -- diluted fruit juice -- but I've never tried it.

It's not that, and it's yucky. It's half juice and half artificially sweetened diet-water sweet stuff, I don't know what but I nearly spit it out (I don't do diet soda or drinks of any sort, except when mixed with booze).

I do that too--I cram a (mason jar) full of ice and pour the juice over top, and when the ice melts, it tastes even better. I always wondered as a child why the Hi-C orange tasted better from McDonald's than it did from home--it was the melty ice.

My Mom used to do that for us when we were kids. She added ice cubes, too and called it Orange (or whatever) Drink.
