I lost my Grand Marnier Cake recipe. I'm baking tonight. I couldn't re-find it anywhere online, and eventually settled for another acceptable recipe using Grand Marnier after switching the search to "orange cake." But I'm telling you, try finding a cake recipe on most open source recipe sites that contains none of following ingredients:

*pre-packaged cake mix
*Cool Whip
*Miracle Whip (aaahhhggg!!)
*Nilla Wafers
*canned frosting
*Sprite, flattened

Gross. It stopped being funny after about 30 recipes. I need more quality cookbooks, and I need them now.

Fear them both, but especially fear Miracle Whip.

I know, I know, someone is going to jump in saying "I love Miracle Whip!" Fine, love it. But I have my own vendetta.

All through my childhood, the only mayo-like thing we ever had was Miracle Whip. I loathed it more than liver itself, and I didn't know there was any alternative. They called it mayonnaise, and so I thought it was mayonnaise. Ergo, I thought I hated mayonnaise.

It wasn't until high school when I accidentally had a bite of mayo in a friend's cafeteria sandwich, and it was good. It was only then that I found out there is real mayo and there is Miracle Whip, which are under no circumstances the same product.

And to think people put that shit in cakes.

I'm just about to start. It'll have a lemon curd filling. Pretty psyched, but nervous since it's my first time making it. :-)
