On the academic publishing censorship front:

Did you know (and I didn't know until today) that last year, one of our competitor's social science texts was, and still is, banned from public school use in the state of Alabama because it contains a photo of a man and a woman in a car, and the woman is driving, not the man.

Our competitor said fuck you and didn't change the photo. I'm proud of them.

BUT WHY SHOULD THEY HAVE HAD TO IN THE FIRST PLACE????

What fucking country is this????

That's terrible.

But it made me think of an amusing moment...early in our London days, I noticed that a lot more women seemed to drive when in the car with a man than in the US. Then I realized that I was failing to mentally move the steering wheel to the other side of the car
