Last night after work I went to Filene's to get thigh-hi stockings for the "Thigh-hi and Tie" party tonight. I'd forgotten that they were liquidating and everything in the store was half-off or more. So I went a little nuts and bought two black skirts, one an ankle-length gothy crushed velvet, the other a short bouncy micro-mini that probably won't see the light of day often, though I'm wearing it by the light of the moon tonight to the party. I forgot to buy a tie. Oh well, I'll probably end up with someone's necktie wrapped around my head or something.

I'm bad about trying things on. Basically I hate it, and will skip it whenever possible. My usual method in the juniors or misses department with the S, M, L sizings is to just grab the L and presume it'll fit. But sizes are getting larger, so the L is somewhat L-er these days. I'm going to have to take in that long goth skirt a bit, since it's drooping at my hips.

So yeah, go to Filene's and get cheap stuff this weekend.

Sunday I have dim sum with friends and possibly skating afterwards.

And since there were still some tickets left, m'date and I are going to Romeo & Juliet at ART on Wednesday. Yes, it's the squee-date, so I'm looking forward. [livejournal.com profile] heliopsis, how was the stadium seating arrangement for this one? I'm hoping the blocking takes all seating sections into account. We seem to be in a weird section, according to the chart.

Going to eat Sugar Pops now... oh wait, they've changed the name to just "Pops."

yeah, what the heck is up with "Pops" anyway. what are they going to call it next, ""??

and I was so dull with my Filene's bargains... socks and undies. then again, I'm such an outlet shopper that stuff like shirts and pants have to pass an invisible price barrier before I even look at them, and Filene's stuff hasn't gotten there yet... 50% off of overpriced is getting there. ;)

There used to be lots of cereal that truthfully had "Sugar" in their names. Sugar Pops, Sugar Frosted Flakes, Sugar Smacks.

Sugar Smacks had a mascot animal named Sugar Bear. Then suddenly his name was changed to Super Golden Bear. Yeah right. Super Golden bullshit.

I think "Froot" Loops promotes bad spelling, myself. Who cares if there's no actual fruit?

The stadium seating works fine. I was in the weird section when I saw the show, and didn't feel like anything was missing. There are a couple moments that play to the main section, but there are also moments that play to the new section, and most of the action isn't particularly oriented one way or the other.

Good to hear. We're in row H of the weird section, but at least I got the aisle. I'm really looking forward to it.

Ahhh, the Filene's going out of business sale. I scored two pairs of really nice designer jeans that I can wear to work in the "better sportswear" for a ridiculous price. AND I got a jacket I just LOVE from XOXO in juniors.

This was a few weeks ago, though, and already it was starting to look picked over. Glad you nabbed a few real finds!

Jeans? I've never seen you in anything but long skirts, I think! Yay that you found some great scores. I would have stayed and shopped longer if I hadn't been so tired.

I haven't seen a Filenes in nearly 20 years! *pouts*...

I have PTSD from accompanying my mother and aunt to Filenes Basement in Boston as a small child *smirks*. Getting lost in the masses of women turned Neanderthal, hunting the deals by date and all out cat fights over things in the aisles. GaWd do I remember that place. The creaking floors...

*now where'd I put those pills?*

I love The Basement. But in all the years I've been going there, I've never seen one of the famous catfights. I must not be going on the right days or something.

But, my current winter coat was a $350 coat marked down to $59, scored at the Basement!

My sister got her matron of honor gown at the basement for $25.00 back in the 80's when I got married. The shoes she had dyed to match cost more than the gown!

I'm not kidding, I remember hanging onto my mother's coat strap watching two women get into it physically over a bra on table that they were heaped on! This was back in the 60's. Maybe there is better order now? *laughing*

*sighs*... Oh Boston, I do miss you!

just a note: the Basement isn't closing. Only Acutal-Filene's are closing. Though I've never actually made it to the Basement myself.
