Basement Swimming
May. 13th, 2006 01:46 pmDear Sump Pump,
Rumor has made it up to the 3rd floor that this rain is just too much for you. I understand, poor thing, and I know just what's wrong -- there's shmootz clogging your filter, and I need to wade down there and scoop you out.
Though this rain will likely keep up all day, I am imploring you, dear Sump Pump, to just keep trying. You see, it's not that I don't like you, it's just that you're located in the most haunted sector of the entire Basement of Evil and, like your friend the Breaker Box, you're in Mare-free territory if I have any choice in the matter. I know you can process that water if you just stay focused, and I promise the next time Silari Plumbing is out here, I'll have them do right by you.
You and all the basement appliances do a bang-up job, really, considering that we live in what amounts to a 100-year-old tract house that even the landlord refers to as The Leaning Tower of Bay State Avenue. Hang in there, I'm rooting for you, but there's no F-ing way I'm going down there unless I absolutely have to.
Hugs,
-She in The Crow's Nest

Date: 2006-05-13 06:43 pm (UTC)May 21, Sunday, brunch! Us. We'll have to figure a time and a place (many people have said great things about 400 Highland, though since they just got a fabulous review in the GLOBE it may be even HARDER to get in...) Of course, there's always Christopher's at Porter and Martsa and Namaskar. One thing about me and brunch--since I can't eat eggs, most of the usual brunch type places (Johnny D's, Sound Bites, Orleans) just make me really unhappy because I can't eat 90% of what's on the menu. I've been told that 400 Highland has a fair number of non-egg options. And ethnic places (Thai?) are usually really good because they don't rely heavily on egg dishes.
So silly--adore brunch as a concept and in so many ways, but limited by egg allergy. *sigh*
So--let's plan?
