Thank you to the lawmakers and activists who worked so hard to protect the rights of gay and lesbian citizens to marry in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. And thank you to the lawmakers who previously supported a vote to ban gay marriage, who were willing to listen to the voice of reason, compassion, and equality and let it change their viewpoint.

I'm proud of my state. I'm proud of my Governor. Someday, I hope I can be proud of my country again.
