So glad to have my normal speaking voice back. If it was going to blow out, I wish it could have happened any time other than during the play's run. It was sheer coincedence that with this particular character I could integrate the husky, deep rasp for a Natasha-type effect. But if that had been Mistress Quickly, Philip Glass' Ex, or basically any other character I've ever played, it would have been catastrophic.

Offstage, I found that with a voice other than my own, a lot of things just weren't worth saying. When you sound like a talking Rottweiler, you measure the value of what you're about to say more carefully. Or at least I did. I don't think I could ever be a woman of few words, but I had to be a woman of least-words-possible for a few days and I didn't like it. Yet it reminded me that economy of words does have a certain value off-paper. Just not a value I'm particularly into.

I miss you guys so damn much. But I have a dinner date at Chez Henri in an hour, so at least I won't be going home to the Monday void where the rehearsals were. See some of you at auditions this week, and for those who won't be there, lurve you anyway!

It must be so exciting to make a character come to life. I love stage. There's a theatre in Little Five Points where a local group puts on different plays. It's really low budget but I just love going.

Maybe you could audition for them, if you have an interest in acting! The whole process is so much fun. :-)

Your voice in the play was fabulous, darling!

I used to think the deeper, huskier voice I acquired with a cold was sexier. When I asked [livejournal.com profile] thorbol he said a decisive no. So even that "fringe benefit" is out the door.

Glad you're feeling better and your voice is back.

You speak Russian, so I'll take that as a big compliment!
