ZAP

Well, I spent the morning downloading Ad-Aware and Spybot, which together cleaned out more than 400 evils from my computer -- spywear, scumware, dialers, and assorted Lords of Hell that had rendered my computer virtually useless. I also got a McAfee Stinger for viruses. All of it was free, and my computer is now running more or less as it did when I bought it in January. Thank you to the geeks in shining armor who helped me flea-dip my computer!

I was also doing laundry and picking up around the house while this was going on, so I get a high productivity rating for this morning.

Last night I had dinner in the North End with a group of friends I haven't seen in a long while. We ate at Lo Conte's and I had plenty of shiraz and the best carbonara I've ever tasted. It was a bit strange, because this group was once tight as a fist, and in the last year we've drifted in various directions and have lost some common ground. There ws a lot of "So what the hell have you been up to" and the sort of conversational tools you use when paths once walked shoulder to shoulder have veered in different directions. Still, the wine and gossip brought us back to a comfort level that felt familiar and very nice.
