There Goes Tokyo

infinitehotel: "Nothing says love like the big lizard."
We saw Godzilla: Final Wars last night at the Brattle. It's got everything a so-bad-it's-awesome movie needs: kung fu on wires, space aliens, product placement, hot babes fighting, Engrish, low-tech special effects, Mount Fuji backdrops, rock stars, classic film cliches, motorcycle death wrestling, and of course, MONSTERS! 'Zilla gets a re-match with every single monster he ever battled in past movies, rips the heads off anything in his path and demonstrates that he really has a good and loving heart on the inside.
The audience was uncharacteristically boisterous for the Brattle. The horribly scripted spoken English lines got hoots and claps, as well as the Engrish in the subtitles and the superfluous girly leg shots. It was nerds-night-out. Go go Godzilla!
