The audition went well last night, I think. I read for 3 very different roles, enjoying the variations in their personalities and the many opportunities for physical comedy and sight gags. It's been a while since I've had the chance to do that, in fact all the way back to Philip Glass and it's surreal goofiness. The roles I read also offered a fairly broad age range, from late 30-something to mid-60s, as I was interpreting them. It was great watching the other folks do their stuff, seeing all sorts of new angles to their talents and abilities.

For my monologue I pulled out my old Emilia, but this time I was able to interpret it entirely differently, with an edge of vitality and hopefulness, unlike the durgey death-is-upon-us swan song it was last time around.

Seeing some of the scenes brought to life at auditions really showed me the enormous comedic potential of this play. It's going to be a very, very funny show. And now, fingers tightly crossed...
