Bad Back, Good Show
Aug. 1st, 2008 12:47 pmThe back pain I'd been joking about a few days ago became no joke yesterday. I hobbled home from work early, and by the time I got home I couldn't even stand upright. The pain was so bad that I was sweating and gasping.
But it was opening night of the one-act festival, and pain or not it would have broken my heart to miss it. So, patched together on lots of Aleve and two glasses of red wine, I got there with the help of my sweetie's cane and was able to stay for the first act and see the play I directed. Thank goodness I wasn't an actor in this year's festival, though. There's no way I could have gone on.
It was awesome. Congratulations to all involved, and mad props and thanks to my absolutely wonderful team:
surrealestate,
wellstar,
oakenguy,
missmelissa,
brief_life and
beowabbit!
The Wabbit took me home at intermission, and bought me some Maker's Mark (it's good pain medicine). I stayed home from work today, and my back is feeling better enough that I think I'll be able to stay and see Act II tonight. Hope to see lots of you there!
