I'm not sure if I mentioned this, but I'm in a show. It's The Big Broadcast of October 30th, 1938, and I'm in the War of the Worlds segment creating live foley sound effects onstage. It's old-time radio drama onstage at the historic Somerville Theatre October 29, 30 and 31 (two shows on the 31st).

The website has everything you need to buy tickets online, or you can buy them at the Somerville Theatre. And I hope you do! This is our biggest live radio theatre show yet, and it's going to be a doozy. Get your Halloween on, 1938 style!
plumtreeblossom: (in my shell)
Under no circumstances will I stress about a Halloween costume this year. If I go to any Halloween parties (I'm invited to 3 so far), I will not worry about having a different costume for each party regardless of party theme. Some years I come up with something simple and cheap that's fun to make, and some years I don't, and if that's the case I will either wear something I already own or wear my own regular clothes.

You non-local friends might be wondering "Why is a 40-something woman even thinking about Halloween costumes for herself, let alone planting a no-stress flag about them?" It's the culture of my community. Theatre people, con(vention) people, lots of very talented costume-y people, and Halloween is arguably the biggest party holiday of the year around here. I'm Just Not That Into Costuming, but I wear them in plays and I'm willing to wear them for Halloween if I don't have to put much thought, money or time into them. Everything is better for me if I don't have to fret and stress over it, and this is no different.
