The Greatest Show That I Wasn't In
Oct. 30th, 2009 10:56 amIf you live anywhere in the Boston area, please, please go see The Big Broadcast of October 30th, 1938 by the Post-Meridian Radio Players at the Somerville Theater tonight or tomorrow. These are my friends and my theatre family, and they'll be putting on a fantastic, one-of-a-kind show.
I was originally in the show as the senior foley artist, rehearsed with them right up until tech week, but I've fallen so ill and am not getting better and the reality is setting in that I'm not going to be well enough to do any performances at all. I sobbed in Jay's arms this morning. I'm crying now, knowing that I can't be up there with my team. You might be thinking, why does this matter so much, it's just a show. I can't explain. I guess you'd have to be a theatre person to understand. My costume that I love so much is hanging on my closet door. I can't even look at it, I'm that heartbroken.
Cast and crew, break a leg. Everybody else, please treat yourself to this wonderful show. I'm there in spirit.
