Happy 4th!
Jul. 4th, 2004 10:26 amWhat a delightful dinner party I went to last night. It was hosted impromptu by an energetic, spirited gal I met through the CraigsList friend group I started about a month ago. There were several people from that group, and a few of her friends from other circles, all new-to-me friends. She and her boyfriend cooked up a delicious Mexican dinner, and we all talked and laughed over sangria like old pals. I met an actress from Providence, a fascinating Serbian man, and several folks with whom I have lots in common. I’m so glad I reached out and started this group. True to my hunch, there are so many wonderful friends right here in my own community whom I simply hadn’t met yet, and all I needed to do was reach out and find them.
Another sewing marathon until this evening when I’ll be meeting up with more friends for Esplanade fireworks. I swore I was finished with Esplanading on the 4th, but I must admit there’s an appeal to celebrating the evening with a quarter-million people. The Esplanade is to the 4th of July what Times Square is to New Years Eve. And I’ve had exciting celebrations there, too. Moth to flame, sometimes.
