To my recall, attending that party you were throwing.
Oh, and the Llama guy called back. He said that the "trick" llama you wanted for the party has a sore throat; he offered, however, to substitute a trick camel. He did warn that it was prone to spitting; apparently for an extra $20 you can get the swallowing version.
That's the thing -- there seem to be no parties. I think so many people had them last year that attendance was affected at all of them, so now everybody's sitting back and letting Someone Else host. Or so it would appear...
Andy flies back on the 31st from seeing his family. We're probably not going anywhere (on purpose) but I've got one party option available if we change our minds. Honestly, having gone to three parties a night for the last two new years, I'm happy to stay home.
Listening to temple bells ring out the joya no kane for the one hundred and eight sins of humankind, saying "Akemashite omedetou gozaimasu!", buying new omamori to bring good fortune in the coming year, and kissing my wife at midnight. Also, I suspect sex will be involved at some point.
I'm pondering going to the Resolution Ball, if any friends wanna go with me. Else, maybe head up to Portland, Maine. I really liked that city when I passed through last year, has an atmosphere similar to Boston.
We've always made it a policy never to go out new year's eve. Too many drunks on the road! Sometimes we share a glass of bubbly and we usually watch the ball drop at Times Square. Sometimes....we're such old fuddy duddys we don't even do that! Ain't it hell getting old? But it beats the alternative.
