This rabbit is a Flemish Giant, with his doggie friend. They grow to as much as 20 pounds or more. Lately I've been very taken with them. A rabbit, twice the weight of my cats. I tend to be drawn to animals that are either very large or very small for the type of animal they are. I like giant Ragdoll cats for the same reason. And tiny miniature hourses make me squee.

That is a lot of bunny.

Flemish giants do get pretty large. the average is 12-15 pounds. I have two bunnies, but they are mini-rexes, at 4 & 6 pounds respectively. We love our rabbits, and they do make great housepets. They are quiet and have really intriguing personalities. There are is a rabbit shelter in Rhode Island that has some Flemish giants... http://www.rirabbits.org/adopt/adopt.html

I love reading your posts! This is the cutest pic, even if it is "fixed"..I love bunnies too, any kind of animal really...I looked into getting one a while back but changed my mind...Ragdolls are gorgeous cats..That will be my next purchase in the animal world :)

Maybe you could get one from a Ragdoll Rescue. There are a number of them, all over the country. :-)

bunnies can be great pets. my fam has kept bunnies as indoor pets for years! they are a great pet for a working adult. you can let them out and they can be all silly and hoppy and adorable for a few hours every evening, but you can cage them during the day or even leave them overnight without worry. we even litter trained our girl bunny to go in her box so she was out of her cage pretty much 24/7. the boy not so much. he pisses on our couch pretty much every chance he gets. humph. men.

but anyway, bunnies rule!!!!

Awww! A bunny bigger than a kitty. So cute! I was going to get a rabbit a few years ago, but then I read how they chew through wires if you let them out of their cage. There was absolutely no way I could rabbit-proof my apartment. There are just too many wires everywhere. And I'd feel bad keeping it in its cage all the time, so I decided I just wouldn't get one. :-( Now I ooh and ahh everytime I walk past the Starbucks in Davis Square because they have pictures of rabbits from the MSPCA in the window.

I once dated a guy who had a lop ear rabbit as an indoor pet. He was pretty cool but oh boy could he get feisty sometimes!
They said our one cat is a Ragdoll. Her fur is soft as a bunny's. :-) I'll have to make an icon w/her picture on it.

Big bunnies are the best. When I adopt another rabbit to be a boyfriend for my girlbunny (aka Queen of the Apartment and General Ruler of All) he is so going to be a big bunny.
