Night At The Movies
Dec. 8th, 2007 03:29 pmSince our plan to see Lust,Caution fell through,
beowabbit and I instead saw The Golden Compass. I hadn't known it had just opened, and through sheer blind luck I got Fandango tickets at 6:00 PM for an 8:00 PM show. An hour into the sold out showing, the movie stopped and an evacuation alarm sounded. We duly evacuated, quite disappointed. Exiting the building, we thought we saw smoke from a high portion of the building, but coming around front a few minutes later, they were already letting people back into the building. And so we once again took our seats (slightly better ones than we'd had before, in fact) and saw the rest of the movie. I'm glad we went -- I haven't read the books, so I'd felt no pressing urgency to see the movie. It was a wonderful surprise, and now I look forward to reading the books. I want a Daemon. And I want it to look like Barbossa's monkey.
My poor sweetie isn't feeling well today. He's home, hopefully resting and relaxing. I'm going caroling with the gang tonight, though. No time for a nap, so coffee is in order.

Woot!
Date: 2007-12-08 08:49 pm (UTC)I loved the ferret and the ice bear fight. In the end of that fight (we went to the midnight showing the other day) almost all the patrons did a "Friday"-esque "Daaaamn!"
I'm sorry your sweetie is sick. :( DH and I have been getting over some 'icks' ourselves.

Date: 2007-12-09 05:17 pm (UTC)It's not so much the case where they butchered things and cut some things out to make it fit, but more of one where they left too much in, and rushed things, I think.
And they told you some very important things at the beginning of the film that the books wouldn't reveal until much later. I'd say, but I don't want to give away too much.
