plumtreeblossomWell, after 2 days searching, I am officially priced out of Iceland -- I'll have to go somewhere else over Thanksgiving. I hadn't figured on November airfares to an arctic city being $2100.00. Can I get a CatTown scream?

Yep, that's the average roundtrip fare, and I've checked all my favorite discounters and fare search places (about 12 in all). I COULD FLY TO PARIS AND BACK 4 TIMES FOR THAT. The lowest I found was just under $800, but damned if I'll shell that out for Iceland when the same amount could buy R/T to Tokyo. The $2100 could get me the Beijing package I originally wanted, but of course I don't have that much or I would be going to China. There were some crappy little tour packages, but they were just for 2 nights, and I don't want to go anywhere for that short a time except my parents house. I was planning to spend only about $1200 total like I usually do on Euro trips. And that's exactly what I'm gonna damn do. I'll go to Iceland when I'm a rich rock star and I'll stay at my best friend Bjork's house. M'kay.
Which begs the question: where am I going instead? Spin the dial. My list of must-see countries is huge, and there's lots of affordable lodging and flights in a sane price range. That will be what I'm doing tonight. Humting for the foreign getaway I need so badly.
So, within the next few days you'll see me posting "Hey, I'm going to ____________!!!!!!" It might be someplace weird, or not. I might speak the language, or not. Just somewhere, and soon I'll know.

I gotta get off the continent though!
