I'm still so congested, and coughing like a beggar with the consumption. I feel sorry for whoever has to sit next to me on the plane tomorrow. I hope at least it's someone mean and awful, who deserves the punishment of proximity to me for seven tormented transatlantic hours. Someone just plain rotten who has a black mark beside their name in the Big Book, so that I can be used as an instrument of Karmic Justice upon them.

Go out NOW and buy a bottle of nettle capsules (freeze-dried is best though any variety would work) at the local pharmacy or health food store. It will work wonders.

Would GNC have them? (I'm downtown at work, and it's the only store I can think of?)

Yup.

Try astragalus or echinacea for immune boosting, too. The GNC dude will know which is best for you.

Also, if you are unsure what foods you will eat and want to ensure your bowels are not haywire, pick up a bottle of acidophilus capsules.

I'm prolly sticking to ovo-lacto-vegetarian, like I usually do when traveling (foreign meat and me usually don't mix!).

Right but acidophilus will help even if you drink some non-bottled water or eat an under-ripe piece of tomato, upsetting your tummy.

I love that there are still internet cafes in most places in the world. Lack thereof in the US is a big reason why I tend to travel overseas more than domestically. I like being able to stay in touch with you all!

While there are fewer net cafes in the US than abroad, the US has public libraries and anyone can walk in, barring no wait list, and use the public computers for free.

But on the upside, if you can get the hacking just right, you'll be that much closer to perfecting the Scottish dialect.

Bon voyage, Cookie!

You're hacking: You may not enjoy it but hot water with half a lemon squeezed into it and a dash (and I do mean a dash as this stuff is strong) of cayenne pepper does wonders for congestion and hacking - I've been doing the same and every time I have some of this it eases, at least for awhile! I had a friend who was dieing and had to get married - he drank some before the wedding and didn't cough once! Feel better!

You're Trip: Have a fabulous time! I'm drooling with envy - climb Arthur's seat no matter what the weather!!! I can't wait to hear all about it!

It's not bad! You just don't realize how much lemon a half a lemon really is!

neti pot!

And in fact, I have a spare if you'd like to borrow it for the trip. It'll knock that cold right out of you.

In any case, have a great time. :)

Have a great trip -- kiss the cold, lifeless corpse of Robert Burns for me, if you get a chance. :)
