Earlier this week after rehearsal, [livejournal.com profile] beowabbit and I went across the street for a drink at a new-to-us restaurant called Posto in Davis Square. It turned out that six other showmates had the same idea, so we all sat together. Wabbit and I weren't there for dinner, just a drink. But oh my! The incredible menu! We couldn't resist a snack of a delicious bowl of fancy olives, but we can't wait to go back for a real dinner. And uh oh, they have brunch...!

I'm just posting here so that we don't forget. Have a look at that menu and I bet you'll agree.

Oh my...

Yes, definitely looks like a candidate for Brunch!! :-)

I've gone by it a couple of times and wondered about the new place, but hadn't heard anything. Sounds like it is definitely worth a try.

[livejournal.com profile] chanaleh and I can vouch for the high quality of the place. I recommend the polenta and blood orange martini.

To clarify, that's the polenta and the blood-orange martini. Not the polenta-and-blood-orange martini. :-D

Seriously, I've been there three times, and am going to push for a fourth real soon now. Pricy, yes. But *everything* I've had has been of the "oh yes I would like two more of these right now please" caliber. Yum.

Now that would be an interesting texture!

I believe the polenta-and-blood orange martini was Tantra in Old San Juan.

The 1st time I went I liked my food a lot and thought the price was Ok for what I got. I didn't think they were at all a wine bar per their advertizing. I went back and either I had ordered really cheaply without knowing it the 1st time or they raised their prices cause the second meal was expensive for what I got.

I just looked now and ~$15 for a personal pizza is a good chunk of change IMO. Their Pizza only feeds one.

huh, I don't actually agree that their pizza only feeds one, since I got two meals out of the sensational fig-arugala-amazingness one I had.
"Fig, Gorgonzola crema, applewood bacon, caramelized onions, arugula," menu says.

Love Posto a lot too.

And just a few stumbling blocks to my place. :)

It's definitely one of my favorite places in Davis, since I actually don't like most of the restaurants in Davis. I've been there a few times and I like it a lot. The only problem is that because of the high ceilings and crowded tables it is a bit noisy, so if you're one who likes quiet to go along with intimate, it's not really that.

Dude, I've loved Posto every time I've been. I especially like it because it seems to have finally solved the problem of that stupid space, which has changed hands so many times at this point that the host was telling me that folks in the industry took to calling it the nightmare on Elm Street. :) At last it's a destination rather than a stopover: a place where people will make an effort to go and hang out for a while, rather than move through to get coffee or lunch or a burrito, for which 700 other options exist in Davis Square that don't involve passing out of the central business district and crossing a busy street with no crosswalk.
