There's an article in DailyKos today that everyone should read:

Homophobe Million Moms take Aim at Archie Comics and Toys R Us

Seems Archie and the gang in Riverdale are celebrating the marriage of their gay friend Kevin to his male fiance. And Toys R Us dared to stock the issue in stores. One Million Hate-Mongering Moms are on the attack. The publisher of Archie Comics basically told them to go suck it, but the moms are waving pitchforks at Toys R Us. Emails offering support for Toys R Us' decision to stock the comic are needed, and the email address is in the article.

Here's hoping Toys R Us stands firm, like JCPenney did when One Million Moms tried to force them to fire Ellen Degeneres as their spokesperson because she's a lesbian. I want to show my support of them, but there aren't any JCPenney stores in this area, and I only just today remembered that I can buy from them online. I'm going pants shopping in my new size -- FOR EQUALITY!

Isn't there a JCPenney up near/in the Liberty Tree Mall, or that other mall the next exit from that one? You have to drive, but if you take 95 north and then 128 after that, it's like 2 or 3 exits from the 95/128 split.

We don't currently have a car -- Jay's is dead for now. But I like online shopping, and I'm glad to see JCPenney has business wear, not just mom jeans as I was fearing. :-)

I wish I was good at Photoshop. I'd do the Archie gang with a word bubble over them, all shouting "GO SUCK IT!"

OMG you have to see this! I went to the One Million Moms website. Apparently, all they do is mount attacks on companies and stores that are LBGT-friendly. They're after Macy's, Target, Clorox...and there's 29 pages of calls-to-attack!

I just phoned ToysRUs's customer service line (1-800-TOYSRUS) and talked with a person there, and told her very plainly that I support their store selling the Archie Comic, and the group that doesn't like the comic book are stupid. The woman had a very thick accent, so I don't know where she was located (she was fluent in English) and I didn't say what the controversy was all about. She said she'd pass along my voice of support to corporate management. I also was glad that I didn't have to leave my phone number nor my email address, but I did give her my name (sounded like she wouldn't have minded if I didn't give her my last name either).

if you call, you can just sit in silence when it asks for your phone number, after the second request it gives up and just sends you to a person.

I've been reading Archie comics since I was a wee kid (back when dinosaurs roamed the earth) and I think it's Totally Awesome that they had an issue like this. YAY!!
