Huh. 137 pounds today, down from 140 last Monday. I'm not sure whether to count this as actual loss though, since my week's eating pattern was 3 days of low-carb, 1 day of Valentine's eat-what-I-want, and 3 days of being too sick to keep food down. Oh, and no exercise, other than a few perilous walks over the icy tundra of Davis Square and Quincy. I'm feeling better today and will be able to eat something, by the way.

I don't know how my body manages to make 137 little pounds look fat. 137 is featherweight, in the grand scheme of things. I know people my height who weight in the 150s but are smaller than me by the tape measure. I have exceedingly fluffy fat. Time to dance on the treadmill and pretend I'm in OK Go.

I feel for ya.
The way I deal is not get on the scale and work every week on exercise and maintaining some level of healthy eating: portion control/fewer carbs.
I started in on this in late October and after 4 months, I feel like I'm inching towards where I want to be. Nevermind numbers, though. It's how the pants fit.

Exactly, the pants. Back when I used to go to the gym 4 times a week, I weighed about this much but I was thin. All about the transformation of fat to muscle. I wish Punk Rock Aerobics was still going. That would be such a fun way to work it off.

punk rock aerobics?! Awesome! I make do with the bouncy california girl (Turbo Jam)
Yeah, I've been turning marshmellow into filet mignon -still fatty but less so and oh so tasty! hahhahaaa. And really really, muscle is heavier than fat, so be it. It'd be nice to re-brain wash the fashion moguls back to the Marilyn Monroe era of healthy shape for the women-folk.

the first time i dropped a lot of weight (265 to 200) drinking water constantly helped be drop at least 10# in water weight because my body stopped storing it up. Also cutting way down processed sugar and baked goods led to another 10#drop. Once we get moved into the apt we will be right across from the Y so am hoping for a lot more physical activity too.

For the record, I'm 132. I think sometimes when we look in the mirror we see ourselves as fatter than we really are.

But I think I am going to join the gym again. I have just felt less healthy overall and I think being in shape helps no matter what the weight is. If you want to go walking someday or have a "healthy" dinner, I'm on board with you.

Feeling good about yourself is the most important thing. So I admire your strength to work on a healthy diet and try to get exercise. Our busy world and fast food lives make this very hard.

When I saw you on Sunday night of Arisia weekend I thought that your curves looked very sexy on you. You seemed very relaxed and OK with who you were and that come across.

I think every one of us would change things, but we need to remember that others always will see us differently than we see ourselves. I would not worry about the numbers (unless a doctor specifically tell you so), and work on feeling healthy. Know that others will (and do) find you attractive, I a believe you will too :)

For what it's worth, muscle weighs three times as much as fat. I keep thinking someone else must have said this but I haven't seen it in comments yet... fat is less dense, so it takes up more space but doesn't add as much weight. Thus, someone smaller (but more muscular) than yourself (or myself, for that matter!) could have the same weight.
