It's farmer's market day in Kendall Square. It might be the tiniest farmer's market in the world, but those 6 or 7 stalls of goodness are sure appreciated by me every Thursday.

Right now I'm eating gooseberries for the first time ever. I love the flavor, but the texture takes some getting used to. Inside the grape-like skin, it's sort of like tangy mashed potatoes. With seeds. It would make good jam, I think.

I also scored some garlic pesto sauce for [livejournal.com profile] beowabbit from a local garlic farm. It's the garlic-lovers strength (they had a lesser garlic variety as well), so I think it will suit his garlocentric taste.

And my show opens tonight!

It's probably too late in the season, but if you can find them, garlic scapes make a fantastic pesto. Utterly fantastic.

They had scapes all through June, but now I regret not getting any because now they're gone. But they do have lovely braided swags of garlic bulbs.

We got them twice through the farm share. After the first batch, we just went back and made a second. Sadly, neither batch lasted much past the first night.

I am going to try for the Sunday matinee. Since I have to take buses I am not very secure about going at night. I'll let you know as soon as I am certain of when I will go.

Meanwhile, I hope your back is better. I too suffer from sciatic nerve pain due to a spinal curvature. It's no picnic, that's for certain.

Good to see you tonight! Sorry you had to go home in pain.

My Chiropractor is Christina Grossi. She works in Union Square, and her number is 617-440-1688. She is gone for a couple of weeks--the man she sees to get adjusted will be covering for her Tuesdays and Thursdays for the next two weeks until she gets back.

Good luck, and I hope you feel better soon!
