Pain

Last night I did something terrible to my back, just the tiniest slip on the ice and my lower back has been in searing agony since late last night.

Jude was over and noticed me clutching at my back while baking and drinking wine. She did a little back work on me on the kitchen floor, but this seems to be a disk injury. There is constant shooting pain on the left side of my lower back, going all the way up my side and all the way down to my left knee.

I had to stay home from work because of it. My mom, who knows from back pain, said I need to go to the chiropractor right away. I've never been to one and have never actually hurt my back before, so this is all new to me. I'm not the type to usually complain of pain, but this one has bulldozed me.

At least I'll have a good dinner tonight. Jim is making coq au vin, and a few foodies are coming over to eat and watch A Cook's Tour. I never thought of myself as one before, but I've lately been doing ten-fold the amount of cooking and experimenting I've ever done before. Fortunately Todd is picking me up -- I couldn't walk to the end of the street in this condition.

That didn't work out (the vegetarianism). I gave it a good try, and I'm veg on about half the days of any week, but 100% just didn't work out for me.

Yeah--I tried it for a while in college and it wasn't for me, either. So it goes.
